Now for those of us who can’t remember, Forrest Gump was about a low IQ man who goes through life unknowingly influencing some major historical events. And Laal Singh Chaddha is exactly that. Here Aamir Kan narrates his life story unaware that he had impacted events in Indian history.Laal Singh Chaddha is a difficult movie to review. Clearly it is a labor of love. You can see how much effort went into making this movie. It is a well thought, well researched movie.
But sometimes well intentioned and well-made movies don’t always translate into enjoyable films, and maybe that is where this movie falters.

One must wonder how relevant this movie is in today’s time. A low IQ man going in and out of the army at will or running non-stop for several years may have felt heart-warming 25+ years ago but in today’s age, may not seem relatable.
This movie will have polarizing opinions. Some will marvel at the sheer brilliance of it while some will complain about it being dull and absurd.
Laal Singh Chaddha is definitely an acquired taste!
